Adela Farré (Terrassa, 1961). I started my professional career working as a journalist in several media (Diari de Barcelona, El Correo Catalán, El Noticiero Universal, Catalan delegation of Madrid’s newspaper ABC, etc.). I held the positions of media manager firstly and then Director’s chief of staff at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (1989-1994).
Between 1995 and 2006, I was Head of Intermón Oxfam’s Press Office, one of the largest Spanish NGOs. The exercise of “solidarity journalism” has given me the opportunity to see firsthand the harsh realities of countries such as Morocco, Tanzania, Mozambique, Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador, among others.
After a year working as a communications director for a private company and as a communications consultant for different non-profit organizations, I rejoined Intermón Oxfam as Head of Identity and Image Area (2007-2009).
From 2009 to 2015, I have been the Director of Communications and Institutional Relations of Biocat, an organization created to promote life sciences in Catalonia, and I have been managing editor and main writer of its biennial report, a reference in Catalan and Spanish biotech sector (see Publicacion(e)s section).
From February 2015 to April 2016 I was the Director of Communications, Marketing & Promotion of the Barcelona Science Park (PCB).
In 2016 I founded the communications consulting firm BIOBIZ Strategy & Communications, which I am still managing. From September 2019 to February 2022, I have been the Head of Communications and Branding of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Tecnology (BIST). Now, one hundred percent dedicated to my project BIOBIZ S&C, I continue collaborating with BIST as independent consultant, among many others R&I entities.
